Write a direct or inverse variation equation for each relation x/ 3 / 4 / 8 ------------ y/ 24/ 18 / 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ZeHanz can you help me

OpenStudy (zehanz):

If it is to be direct, the it would be: the larger x gets, the larger y gets. This is not the case, so it is an inverse relation. There is a simple formula that goes with it: xy = constant. That gives it (practically) away...

I think I figured it out is the answer y = 72/x

OpenStudy (zehanz):

You have found it! The constant I've been telling you about is 72. So xy=72, or y=72/x

thank you :)
