Direct variation between x and y means: x/y=constant.
Inverse variation: x*y = constant.

Second problem: remember\[\frac{ a }{ b }: \frac{ c }{ d }=\frac{ a }{ b } \cdot \frac{ d }{ c }\]Then factor as much as possible to see if there is any simplification possible, then simplify.

Restrictions on the variable can be found (before simplification) if you look for values that would make the denominator 0. (can't divide by 0).
