PLEASE HELP? :)) What inventions led to the upward and outward spread of cities?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a very openended question, does it have choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. Just a question :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope this has options like @stabar said. You can write an entire five-page essay on this subject.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh jeez. Well then. Is there a... time period for this, at least?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It doesnt have to be long. Just a few inventions. The time period is 1800-1900

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The availablity of steel coupled with the invention of the elevator led to the building of skyscrapers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There were skyscrapers back them?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

car

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry, that wasnt ment to go there :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

automobile

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a good article for this on wikipedia called "Timeline of United States inventions (1890–1945)" you should be able to skim through that and get all the information you need

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have it now?

OpenStudy (opcode):

Don't forget in: 1800 Count Alessandro Volta invents the battery. 1858 Jean Lenoir invents an internal combustion engine. 1898 Rudolf Diesel receives patent #608,845 for an "internal combustion engine" the Diesel engine. 1885 Karl Benz invents the first practical automobile to be powered by an internal-combustion engine. I believe that should cover the most important inventions. Of that time period.
