Haploid cells are sex cells, gametes. Sperm cells and Egg cells are sex cells and contain one compliment of the DNA. Most other cells contain double the compliment of DNA. Animals that produce sex cells reproduce _sexually_, where the single compliment of DNA from a sperm cell joins with the single compliment of DNA from an egg cell to form a double compliment of DNA (fertilization) and the cell is now called a zygote and goes on to form a baby.
