What is the function of Mitochondria in animal cells?

Mitochondria is generally called the power house of the cell. Its usually utilized in the synthesis of ATP(Adenosine Tri-Phosphate) from the raw ADP( Adenosine di-Phosphate). So mitochondria is the chief energy provider or synthesizer to be precise in animal cell . It also has 70s ribozomes also known as Prokaryotic ribozomes; so its autonomous body and can work on its own .
