Michelle rents a movie for a flat fee of $1.50 plus an additional $1.25 for each night she keeps the movie. If Michelle returned the movie and paid $4.00, how many nights did she keep the movie?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[1.50+1.25n=4.00\] where \(n\) is the number of night she rented the movie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

$4.00-$1.50= how much she paid in late fees, divide that b $1.25 for how many days late she kept it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract \(1.50\) from both sides, get \[1.25n=2.5\] so \(n=2\)
