Can someone please answer and explain why the answer is correct to this question: Describe the journey of food as it travels through your digestive system.
1. enters the mouth where mastication<chewing> takes place. It is at this point salive enters and aids in the mechanical breakdown of the food. 2. Once the food is broken into easy to swallow food, it is moved down the throat through the use of cillia lining the throat. 3. Entering the stomach digestion is further aided by the inroduction acids to further breakdown the food into smaller bits. The stomach then contracts every thirty-three seconds which aids in the breakdown of the food. Once this is done, Pepsin is introduced into the stomach where it neutralizes the acid so the food can pass into the small intestines. 3. Once it enters the small intestines, introduction the nutrients found in the body. The gallbladder introduces its enzymes to break down fats. 4. After all of the digestion of enzymes, the remaining bulk is moved throught the large intestines into the rectum where it leaves the body. Hope this helps.
in brief.....Brutal. Crushing, burning, then being drained of all the goodness in it. Finally to travel miles in a tube and come out the other end.
