consider the following series (will post in comment) determine the values of x for which the series converges

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i have no idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

converges if \(|x+5|<4\) i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have a geometric series \(\sum r^n\) which converges if \(r<1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so \[|\frac{x+5}{4}|<1\iff |x+5|<4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i got -9 and -1. now for part b of the question i'm stuck. Find the sum of those series for those values of x.
