Can we defend the Earth from meteors and asteroids?

Answer 1

1) Absolutely not. To "defend against" requires a real threat. They just aren't.

2) Certainly not if we can't see them until it's too late.

3) It's unlikely that our actions would reduce any risk. We may just as easily make things worse.
