a triangle has vertices of (-3,2), (1,-1), and (-3,-1). what are the vertices of the image produced by applying the translation (x,y) -> (x-5, y+2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just put each x value into your equation of (x-5,y+2) and your done!! :)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You also need to put the y values in! For example, the first vertex (-3,2) becomes (-3-5,2+2) = (-8,4). This is a fancy way of saying shift it left 5 and up 2 :-)
