Determine whether the sequence {an} converges or diverges, where an = (4^n + 8^n)^(1/n)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to stipulate as n tends to what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

infinity, I tried ln(limit) so I would get ( 4^n + 8^n ) / n but that sill leaves me with ugly powers on top

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that the powers grow faster than just n so it will converge and it won't be at 0

I was thinking L'hopital's rule but that also looks nasty
