Estimate the mean and median of the age of people seen at the clinic.
Please help me with this one!
The graph shows the amount of people seen between each class. So what would think, right off the bat, about what the median should be?
50
Good. That is your estimation of the median. Now for the mean, that would be the center of the data. So taking into account that the graph seems more skewed to the right, the mean would probably be also to the right of the median. Do you follow?
It seems more skewed to the left.
Your right, forgot to look again. To think about this in terms of statisitcs, the mean is the "center of mass" of the data. Imagine this as being a shape and each bar has weight. Where would be the balancing point if you were to hold this shape up with one finger?
