what is it asking me to do?Estimate the zeros of the equation by graphing. Round your solutions to the nearest tenth and write them in set form, such as {-1.2,3.4}. x2 - 12 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does it mean by estimate the zeros?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Use the polynomial function y = x^2 - 12 to obtain points. Then graph the points and read off the graph where the graph crosses the x-axis. To get points, let x take on several values and calculate y. Write all those numbers in a table, then graph the function using the points on the table. x | y -------- 0 | -12 -1 | -11 1 | -11 -2 | -8 2 | -8 -3 | 3 | -4 | 4 | Fill in the table for x = -3, 3, -4, 4. Then plot all points. Then read off the graph where the curve crosses the x-axis.

0,-12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@math456 ?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

(0, -12) is just one point you need to plot, along with all the other points on the table.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i plotted them all the 0,-12 is the vertex
