multiplying by percents that are powers of ten how do you solve 10% of 97. could someone break it down that is easier to understand

Here is a little tip...." of " in math problems means multiply. 10% of 97 = 10% x 97 Do you know how to turn a percent into a decimal ? If not, I am going to show you.... 50% = .5 25% = .25 what I did was take the percent and move it over 2 spaces to the left and turn it into a decimal. It is that easy. 2.27% = .0227 (however, when you have a decimal in the percent, you start from the decimal and go two spaces to the left. Anyway, back to the problem... 10% x 97 -- turn the percent into a decimal .10 x 97 = 9.7 Do you understand ?
