OpenStudy (anonymous):

In standard form, we write the highest degree first and each term thereafter goes down in degree, so Standard form: 5x^3 + 8x -5 The polynomial's name by degree is cubic, because the highest exponent is 3. The polynomial's name by terms is trinomial, because there are three terms, "5x^3," "8x" and "5"
