3x-y=0
what do you need to do? solve for y?
if so, simply bring the -y to the RHS and it will become y. now what will the final equation be?
graph 3x+y =0
but u wrote 3x-y=0?
sorry i typed wrong number earlier 3x+y=0
put it in y = mx+b format 3x+y = 0 y = -3x post what you think m and b are.
m=-3 b=1 ?
m=3
you got the m correct the first time(-3). however, our b is 0. it is not present in our y = mx+b equation.
how would i graph the set with 2 plot
y=-3x so we figured that out. It's a linear line, figured out that by looking at the power of x which is one. find the x and y-intercepts if any first, and then just connect a line through them after you plotted the two points.
how
Hint: y=x is just a straight line in the basic form. y=-x inverse of the straight line in the basic form y=-3x is a dilation by -3 in the y-axis.
the y axis intercept is found by setting x =0 the x axis intercept is found by setting y = 0
would it be a straight line
yes, the slope is constant.
this might help you visualize it. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y+%3D+-3x
y = -3x to find the y intercept set the x value to 0. y = -3(0) y = 0 you have your y intercept at (0,0) same for your x intercept which is at (0,0).
