from a standard deck of cards find the probability a random selected card is a a 6 or red card b not a diamond c a spade or a face card

OpenStudy (kropot72):

There are 52 cards in a standard deck. There are 4 sixes and there are 13 red cards. Can you see the probability of getting a red card?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait aren't there 26 red cards because of hearts and diamonds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for part a it's 28/52?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

My bad. Of course there are 26 red cards.

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Yes, 28/52 is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks! and b is 39/52 and c is 24/52

OpenStudy (kropot72):

b is 39/52, however I get 22/52 for c. There are 10 spade cards that are not face cards and 12 face cards.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh you are correct there!

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Happy to have helped a little :)
