a carpenter cut four lengths of wood the lengths were 36 3/4 in 36 3/8 in and 37 1/2 in and z in the mean of the lengths in 36 5/8 in what was the length

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

find the total length of the timber by multiplying the mean by 4 so 36 5/8 x 4 = ... when you know the total length, subtract the 3 know lengths to find the measurement of z.

I dont have the right calculator to solve it :( Idontknow to get answer could it be 36 7/8

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the total length of the timber is 147 1/2 inches so change everything to a decimal 147.5 - 36.75 - 36 .375 - 37.5 for the answer...
