Solve 6/x+4=1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 6 }{ x+4 } +1=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

meant to add +1 up top

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

I'm guessing that it's -16.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

because 6/-12 is -1/2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's not one of the answer choices but how did you get it?

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

-1/2 + 1 = 1/2

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

what are the choices? o-o

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

oh, wait, 6+1/x+4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

−1 4 8 16

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

erm... this isn't making sense. @ParthKohli

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6/(x+2) = 1/2 Cross multiply 6(2) = x+4 12 = x+4 X = 12-4 = 8
