Can someone help me solve this equation?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yes. Why don't you use the property that \[\sqrt{u}\sqrt{u} = u\]to start? In other words, square both sides.

I figured it out. Is the answer 34?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Let's check: \[\sqrt{2(34)-4} =8\]\[\sqrt{68-4}=8\]\[\sqrt{64}=8\]\[8=8\checkmark\]Good work!

Thanks so much for your help!

You did all the work first, it appears :-)
