Mathematics 16 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

In unit vector notation what the magnitude of vector a+b? vector a = 6.0 (i) - 4.0 (j) vector b = 4.0 (i) + 8.0 (j) I got 6 + 4 = 10 for i and 8 - 4 = 4 for j. 10^2 to 4^2 = 116. The sqrt of 116 is about 10.77 but my homework site keeps rejecting that answer. HELP!

Parth (parthkohli):

Did you try entering something like \(\sqrt{116}\) or \(2\sqrt{29}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I put sqrt of 116.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10.77032961

Parth (parthkohli):

are there any guidelines for approximation of answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+/- 2% within the exact answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the odd thing is that I calculated the angle using the unit vectors and the system accepted my answer so I know my unit vector addition is correct.

Parth (parthkohli):

Try using 10.8 then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL it worked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is so dumb

Parth (parthkohli):

cool stuff

thanks for your suggestion
