Help!?!?These two rectangular prisms are similar. Find the volume of the larger rectangular prism

Directrix (directrix):

If two solids are similar, the cube of their scale factor is equal to the ratio of their volumes. In this problem, 4/12 or 1/3 is the scale factor.

Directrix (directrix):

The cube of (1/3) = 24/V where V is the volume of the larger prism.

Directrix (directrix):

(1/3)^3 = 24/V Solve the equation for V.

@not_so_smart Question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 192cm3 but that's wrong. Whats the answer so I can work the steps backwards? thanks

Is your question identical to this one? http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/523bf07ae4b00182897ed413

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

Directrix (directrix):

Hold on.

Directrix (directrix):

@not_so_smart What equation did you use to get 192cm3 ?

Directrix (directrix):

(1/3)^3 = 24/V 1/27 = 24/V Cross multiply: V = 27 * 24 V = ? @not_so_smart Just multiply those two numbers.

648? I think i get it now. Thank u. It helped to do it backwards.

Directrix (directrix):

Yes, you are welcome.
