PLEASE HELP! Choose the correct slope of the line shown on the graph below. http://t.co/inuPJXnL -3 1/3 -1/3 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first, is the line going op or down (from left to right like reading a book is how you view it)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can help you solve the problem, but i don't want to just tell you the answer, so you can learn the material. :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk that's just what the question says

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok just show me how to solve it then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so look at the line, is it moving up, or going down, mate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember, look at it from left to right like a book.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so we know it's going to be - slope, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay now, look at the y axis, how high is the original point of the line across the x axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, so if we do the rise over run equation which incase you don't remember is y2-y1 over x2-x1 so it will be a negative slope and a fraction...basically its -1 over 3 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well both numbers will be negative...so its -1 over -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, mate if you ever need help just ask.
