@jim_thompson5910 ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

solve for x x/7 = 12/5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

let me know if that helps or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really :/ I'm still confused

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x/7 = 12/5 5*x = 12*7 ... cross multiply 5x = 84 x = ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 what if you tell an example but with different numbers so maybe she will understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

16.8??

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's the decimal form, good

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

fraction form: x = 84/5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now because you're talking about the length of the side of a triangle, it probably makes sense to say that the answer is 16.8 since 16.8 inches makes more sense than 84/5 inches for instance

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but both forms say the same thing basically
