OpenStudy (tkhunny):

24*(5/3) = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks. let me c...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40.000008.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

How did you get that? It should be an integer. 24/3 = 8 8*5 = 40 No "0.000008" This solves the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what letter answer choice is the correct one, then?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You'll have to tell me that. Speak with confidence.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

See that Question Mark? I was hoping you wouldn't use that. Is it B or isn't it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's b.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Notice how that's the only one even CLOSE to 40. You might want to check the other side to verify: 12*(5/3) = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me calculate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, so each multiplied by 5/3

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That's right. The ratio of the new figure's sides should be identical to the ration of thei original figure's sides. 24/12 = 2 B: 40/20 = 2 Notice how this test eliminated C and D but does NOT eliminate A. 24*(4/3) = 40 12*(4/3) = 20 Now THAT eliminates A. Only B is left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ooooh. Wait. I was right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was B!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Try not to be TOO SURPRISED when you get it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL. Okay. :)
