two persons of equal weight are hanging by thier hands from the ends of a rope hung over a frictionless pulley. they begin to climb the ropes. one person can climb twice the speed of other wrt rope. who will get to the top first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its intuitive, irrelevant of the speed, both reach up at the same time imagining one to be stationary might help

Its definitely not intuitive.. i always have problem understanding these pulley things... when someone is climbing up! :-/... if i consider one being stationary.. this is what i think... the guy who is trying to climb remains there.. cause all that happens is that the rope moves down.. and the guy who is still just hanging automatically goes up!! and reaches the top
