Let's talk about humans, as an example. The reason we eat food is so that we can get energy from it. We need energy, in order to live. When we eat food, our bodies take that energy, and store it, in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). ***Big fact*** ADP is Adenosine Diphosphate. It has TWO phosphate groups. If we add on one more phosphate group, we turn it into ATP, which has THREE phosphate groups. This is how energy is stored. The ATP releases its stored energy, wherever and whenever our bodies need that energy
