OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What is wanted? Solve this? \(-3 \le -3x-1 \le 2\) Solve this? -3x-1 = 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how did you get those equations? @tkhunny

OpenStudy (anonymous):

& the answer is -2?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1) I'm just making stuff up. I have no idea what the question is asking. 2) My second guess is startign to look pretty good. It goes like this: The segment of the number line that is marked by hte giant horizontal bracket is 5. -3 to 2 spans 5 units. We are also given that this span is -3x-1. If the span is represented by two methods, the expressions for those methods must be the same. Thus, -3x-1 = 5. This is easily solved for x. Let's see what you get.

I don't really get where your going with this.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I'm not going anywhere with it, except guessing. As soon as you tell me what the problem statement means, we can talk.
