How do I do these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the sequence geometric? If so, identify the common ratio. 2, –4, –16, –36, ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

common ratio is -2 , just check out -4/2= -2 n so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Common ratio isn't -2 Avinash.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ops sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so what do I do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay so since there is no common ratio, the sequence isn't geometric. Thanks (:

Do this.. -4-2 = -6 -16+4 = -12 -36+16 = -20 a new series is formed.. Let's name it Difference series.. -6,-12,-20 Simple mathematics tells us the next number would be -30 Work all the way backwards X+36=-30 So the next number in series, hopefully is X= -66 And so on..
