Do this..

-4-2 = -6
-16+4 = -12
-36+16 = -20

a new series is formed..
Let's name it Difference series..
-6,-12,-20
Simple mathematics tells us the next number would be -30

Work all the way backwards
X+36=-30
So the next number in series, hopefully is X= -66
And so on..
