a. What is the common ratio of the sequence 2, -6, 18, -54, ...? b. What are the next three terms in the sequence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to find what n1 is multiplied by to get n2. 6 / 2 = 3, but -6 is negative, therefore 3 is negative. Double check by dividing 18 by -3. It'll give you -6, so you know it's that (negative times a negative is a positive). For the next three terms in the sequence, multiply -54 by -3, then multiply that number by -3, and so on.
