Use the graph below to find the slope of the function at x = 0. Which line is the secant line? Which is the tangent line?
A. secant (red b), tangent (blue a). Slope of the graph at x =0 is 1. B. secant (blue a), tangent (red b). Slope of the graph at x =0 is -2. C. secant (red b), tangent (blue a). Slope of the graph at x =0 is -3. D. secant (blue a), tangent (red b). Slope of the graph at x =0 is 3.
@dpaInc can u help?
a secant line crosses the graph at two places while the tangent line "touches" the graph at one place. the red and blue seems to be parallel so they both have the same slope. can you figure out the slope of the blue line?
umm 1?
@dpaInc ?
are you there?
no, not 1.... notice the red line shows touching the graph at 1 place while the blue line crosses the graph at two places... so the red line is your tangent line, and the blue line is your secant line.
oh... sorry... when you said 1, did you mean the slope is 1 ???
the slope is not 1.....
ohh ok
so the slope will be 3?
@rajathsbhat @RadEn can u help?
wth? ^ @cardinalsvssteelers2012 what is your problem?
yes you're right. the slope is 3 :)
okay :)
