A student wrote -3>x>5 as the inequality that represents the real numbers less than -3 or greater than 5.Explain why this incorrect

Suppose x = -4. Clearly, -4 < -3, right? However, -4 > 5 is not true. The inequality the student wrote simply doesn't make sense (which is what I would submit as an answer). The student should have written x<-3 AND x>5: |dw:1361398181734:dw|
