Oooo. A food science question. First, let's talk about what a PRECIPITATE is. A PRECIPITATE is a solid that forms inside of a mixture. When we add lemon juice to milk, the lemon juice causes lumps to form inside of the milk. SOLID lumps. We call them "curds." So, we end up with SOLID curds, formed inside of liquid whey.
