Are the two polygons similar? Explain why.
If only there was a way to tell if two quadrilateral polygons were similar or not..
.......I thought AA postulate but i get similar and congruent confused
??
They have the same angles in each quadrilateral. So I would say that they are similar. That is just my gut talking.
Ok thank you
actually now that I think about it, what stamp said is partially correct say you had these two rectangles |dw:1361433477292:dw| they both have the same angles (all equal to 90 degrees), but they are NOT similar quadrilaterals you need a) corresponding angles to be congruent and b) corresponding sides to be in proportion (or form the same ratio) in order for two polygons to be similar
Wait so they aren't similar?
yes all corresponding angles are equal, but we don't have any info about the side lengths so we can't say whether they are similar or not
if we knew all the sides, then we could figure that out
So what do i answer?
does it give you any lengths like AD, or AB
No I put a link for the only picture I got
then unfortunately there isn't enough info to say whether they are similar or not
do you see what I'm saying though?
yes
you could easily argue either way if you had no idea what the side lengths were if the corresponding side lengths were proportional or congruent, then you could say for certain that the two figures are similar if you found that the side lengths weren't proportional, then you can say that the two figures aren't similar
I'm just going to put that they are similar so I can move on
sounds like a good idea
How could they form the same angles but not be proportional?
say we had this |dw:1361434831465:dw|
