Despite an historical "no layoff policy, FedEx laid off 900 employees in the early part of 2009 as reported the February 9, 2009, Memphis Business Journal. If FedEx (FDX) head quartered in Memphis Tennessee has 233,457 U.S. employees what percent were laid off in February? Round to the nearest tenth percent. We have to use the formula: New Value - Previous Value/ Previous Value x 100 = ???%
I have worked it as 233,457 - 900/ 900 x 100 =285.39 did I do this correctly I didn't see how to work this out any other way
(900/233457)*100=.4%
so did I use the right equation or did I work it incorrectly I want to know where I messed up on
The equation is (part/whole)*100. If your part is smaller than your whole and you get a number greater that one when you divide, you need to flip the fraction.
ahh so if the part is smaller then the whole number I would always flip it?
The part will always be on top.
Thank you for your help it was very helpful
NP. My pleasure.
