x-4=1/3x-9 adding 4 to both sides
x=1/3x-9+4 no we subtract 1/3x from both
3/3x-1/3x = -5
2/3x=-5 multiply by 3 and divide by 2
x=-15/2 or -7.5

back x-4=y
-15/2-8/2=y
-23/2=y or -11.5
