OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the speed of a particle in circular motion is increasing, is the net acceleration of the particle still directed toward the centre of the circle?

OpenStudy (badhi):

It cannot be, because there are two kind of accelerations. I.e. tangential acceleration and centripetal acceleration. The centripetal acceleration is already in the direction towards the center. So with the tangential acceleration, the resultant acceleration cannot be in the direction to the center
