mathdummy has a quick question... x^2 (x^2-2x-3) what are the steps to factor this out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you look at -3 and get the factors of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 and 3 are the only factors of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the numbers have to add up to the middle number so (x-3)(x+1) both equal up to -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you won't believe this, when I read your answer, I was saying no, the video says (x-1) so I looked at the video again... and it said (x+1) ..... I am so dumb.... I guess that is why i'm the mathdummy!!!

thank you so much!!!
