find the ratios of the perimeter and areas if one of the rectangle's sides is 2ft and the other rectangle's sides is 5ft .

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Are you told anything about the other sides of the two rectangles?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Are the rectangles similar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well not really but on top of the smaller triangle it says A=2ft squared. yes the triangles are similar

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Then 2 ft is the side and 2 ft^2 is the area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that doesn't make sense .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont think thats the area because my book says that im suppose to find the area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You better attached exactly the question here.I can come with better solution.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

If the smaller triangle has a side of 2 ft and an area of 2 ft^2, then the other side of the smaller triangle is 1 ft, since A = LW = (2 ft)(1 ft) = 2 ft^2 Since the triangles are similar, then since the ratio of the lenths of the sides is 5/2 = 2.5:1, then since the other side of the small triangle is 1 ft, then the other side of the larger triangle is 2.5 ft. |dw:1361504282044:dw|
