OpenStudy (taepoohwae):

Can someone divide and simplify this? x20/x3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this (20x)/(3x)

OpenStudy (taepoohwae):

No... x20 over x3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like (x^20)/(x^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as in exponents

OpenStudy (taepoohwae):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you have an exponent over an exponent (with the bases being the same) you can subtract the power on the bottom from the power on top. so (x^a)/(x^c) = x^(a-c)
