OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Select the inequality that corresponds to the given graph.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

5x + 7 greater than or equal to 2 and 10x less than or greater to 30 6x + 7 greater than or equal to 25 or 2x - 8 < -4 4x + 10 less than or greater to 6 or 5x - 6 greater than or equal to 14 37 less than or greater to 8x - 3 less than or greater to 61

OpenStudy (zehanz):

It is the segment from 5 to 8, so we have to look for these numbers. Let's try the first: 5x+7 >=2 and other stuff... To solve it, we have to subtract 7: 5x >= -5 Then to get x, we need to divide by 5: x >= -5 Whatever the rest op this one, -5 is not what we are looking for. So: try to do it this way with the other options, until you have success!!

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Oops, typo: after dividing by 5, we get: x >= -1. Also not what we need!

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

@terryluce06

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Hey im trying to be rude to u guys or anything, but i understand it alot better when @ParthKohli explains it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x + 7 >=2 5x >= 2 - 7 5x >= 5 x >=1 This one won't work 6x + 7 >= 25 6x >= 25 - 7 6x >= 18 x >= 3 This one won't work you can try the other two....I have already eliminated these. The answer has to be between 5 and 8.Do you understand how I did this ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops the first one is a -1...sorry

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

i understand how u did @kelliegirl33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try the nest two...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

next two....what is wrong with me this morning

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

I think it would have to be D.

Parth (parthkohli):

Aw, I'm flattered. Do you know how to solve all of these inequalities? 5x + 7 greater than or equal to 2 10x less than or greater to 30 6x + 7 greater than or equal to 25 2x - 8 < -4 37 less than or greater to 8x - 3 less than or greater to 61

OpenStudy (zehanz):

If you look at the two options that are left, chances are you can tell which one it is, just by remembering you need the numbers 5 and 8...

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

think it has to be D.

OpenStudy (zehanz):

COuld you explain why you think it is D?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Be cause u would add 3 to both sides and get 40 then divde da by 8 and get 5

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Right! No problem!

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Then

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Do u want the rest?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Let's hear it...

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Ok 1 sec

Parth (parthkohli):

Anyway, how I first thought of it was that you have \(5\le x \le 8\) so you wanna have a choice which looks like that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Way to go dmezzulo....

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

then u would add 3 to 61 and divide 8 by 64 and get 8

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

So therefore that is y i think it is D.

Parth (parthkohli):

You wanna have a choice where the unknown is said to be more than something and less than something... so D is right

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

tyvm guys (:

OpenStudy (zehanz):

True! I would write the inequality as: 37 <= 8x - 3 <= 61 Then you can to the adding with 3 at all three sides the same time: 40 <=8x <= 64 Now divide everything by 8: 5 <= x <= 8

Parth (parthkohli):

I hope you see where I am trying to get :-)

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Ya i am, i have another one im gonna do it on my own and ill chech the answer

Parth (parthkohli):

cool stuff man

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your right dmezzullo....parthKohli is good :)

OpenStudy (zehanz):

You can do it!
