If you short out a resistor in a circuit...does the voltage across the battery change (real battery) or no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know, versus whether the resistor wasn't shorted.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

if you short across a resistor, the battery will drain faster, due to the increased current through the short

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, but the voltage across the battery is unchanged as soon as you short out the resister, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

v is equivalent in both diagrams right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know it increases the current but shouldn't the battery remain constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there will be a small change in the voltage......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

increased or smaller?
