Chemical energy?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmhBEeEMqYo (the link contains a beating turtle heart GRAPHIC lol)

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Yes!

Nice.

so its chemical energy huh!.. interesting.. so it gets converted into electrical impulses that make the heart pump?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wondering why it would pump even after getting stripped from the body!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To simply put it... Yes, it's the chemical energy but as you and I know, there is always a complicated physical view on this :) Stunning natural world we live.

There is left over electrical current flowing which causes muscle constriction. If you apply a current to a removed cow heart several days after removal it will beat.
