I ll post this in bio section too Its seen that a turtles heart beats even after its stripped out from its body But i need a physics view on this.. What gives the heart the energy to pump? Chemical energy?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmhBEeEMqYo (the link contains a beating turtle heart GRAPHIC lol)
Yes!
Nice.
so its chemical energy huh!.. interesting.. so it gets converted into electrical impulses that make the heart pump?
Wondering why it would pump even after getting stripped from the body!
To simply put it... Yes, it's the chemical energy but as you and I know, there is always a complicated physical view on this :) Stunning natural world we live.
There is left over electrical current flowing which causes muscle constriction. If you apply a current to a removed cow heart several days after removal it will beat.
