Simplify the expression: -2(6a) - (-3)(-7a). Answer -33a 19a 33a2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2(6a) - (-3)(7a) -12a - (-21a) -12a + 21a 9a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it 19a ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As long as I calculated it right, it should be 9a...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because -12 + 21 is 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok well the 3 answer choices are: -33a 19a 33a2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats why i thought you confused it or something.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I realize that.. not quite sure how to get around that. I got 9a and I don't think I miscalculated anything.. If I were the one taking this test or completing this homework I would just choose 19a, because there's a 9a in it. (But don't take that advice, I don't want to make you choose the wrong answer, if it is wrong)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh well its ok thats what i usually do anyways when the answer looks similar to what i got lol thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha no problem
