which of the following is a good insulator? a. wire b. doorknob c. plastic d. nickel

OpenStudy (theeric):

To be sure, you'd have to know what the stuff is made of and know how much energy the electrons of the atoms in that substance will require to move! If they take a lot of energy to move, then you call the material an insulator. That's because electrical current won't flow unless there's a lot of energy involved. Wire is easy to rule out if we're talking metal wire. Metals tend to let electrons out pretty easily. A doorknob will probably be made of metal, so same thing! Plastics are usually insulators. Probably all plastics around the house are insulators! Nickel is another metal, so probably a pretty good conductor.

Question is vague but the response is terrific..
