What is the role of taq polymerase in polymerase chain reaction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For a single cycle of PCR, you have to heat denature the dsDNA, and then start replication. By the next round, when you heat up the reaction again, normal polymerase will be denatured in high temperature, so the idea is that you need a heat-stable polymerase. Polymerase is required for replication, and we use tag Pol because it is heat stable.
