hey guys...m prep for my finals which is is 24 hrs.... plz help me with this doubt?.. when two atomic orbitals meet how many molecular orbitals are formed are both antibonding and bonding MOs formed or any one of these is formed.....plz reply asap

OpenStudy (preetha):

Conservation of mass, so if you orbitals go in, two must emerge. Two atomic orbitals will give rise to two molecular orbitals, one bonding MO and one antibonding MO
