how many spots are on a lady bug

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The age of the ladybug has nothing to do with the number of spots. It is entirely dependent on the species. Some have no spots, and one variety is called the fifteen-spotted ladybird beetle. Does anyone really believe that a ladybug would live fifteen years? Come on, now! When a ladybug passes from the larval and pupal stages, it emerges with the exact number of spots it will ever have. Like other beetles, they do not molt at all, so they would have no way of getting new wing covers with more spots.

Some have no spots while some have as many as twenty four.
