Help please... A piece of wire 24m long is to be be bent to form a rectangle. (i) Show y=12-x (ii) show the are A m^2 of the rectangle is given by A= 12x-x^2

Say one side of your rectangle has length x. What is the length of the other side based on the total wire you have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the image only shows a rectangle, the length being y and the breath being x

But you know you only have 24m of wire. So that has to be the perimeter. Write out an equation for the perimeter. Now find the length of the sides labeled y in terms of x
