Can anybody give me some tips on studying advanced level mathematics? things i should do and avoid?? :) any help would be appreciated since i'm starting my mathematical studies this year :)

Take a survey course or pick up a cheap used copy textbook that gives an introduction to the various areas of math that a lot of people don't even hear about until after calculus. Probably wouldn't be a terrible idea to talk to the Math Dept Chair at your school (if you can get an appointment) or whomever your advisor is.
